General Welcome To The Club Armidale Dog Training Club Inc. is an affiliate of the Royal New South Wales Canine Council. The Club offers Dog Training to suit pet owners & dog sport enthusiasts at all levels. Experienced & competent instructors can tailor training to suit your needs with an emphasis on confident & effective canine communication for any purpose. Sunday morning sessions from February to December. Come along to our Sunday morning sessions at Charleston Willows Reserve, Rockvale Road where you and your dog can meet friends and socialise and enjoy the rewards of clear, effective communication. Move on to Agility, Obedience & Trial Classes OR you & your dog can just continue to enjoy quality time with your dog, where you can both enjoy catching-up with friends, having a chat and a cuppa at break time and the occasional BBQ after classes. Take advantage of the creek if your dog fancies a swim after classes. There’s a lot of work that goes on ‘in the background’ by an executive/general committee, including President, Vice President/Trial Secretary, Secretary, Treasurer and General Committee (a number of positions responsible for a range of tasks such as publicity, grounds maintenance, newsletter editing, trophies and ribbons, fundraising, library, etc.) Sponsoring of competitive trials – The club sponsors two major trials during the year, one in May and the other in October where people from not only Armidale but also from NSW, Queensland and elsewhere come. Trial events include Obedience and Agility and Jumping at a range of levels, from Novice to Masters. Our club is known for its hospitality at these trials and we hope that all members will become involved in helping out – at the canteen, to work as stewards, to help set up, etc. It takes a lot of work and its all voluntary. If you can’t help out, it’s still a great day out to see what your dogs CAN do with further training. The club has a library of carefully-selected books that provide good information on dog training, pet-friendly accommodation, and solving some behaviour problems. Browse the list of titles in the container. Be sure to sign the loan book if you wish to borrow any of the holdings – the loan period is two weeks. Club Graduation Days and Christmas Party The last week of every 8-week class session is a club graduation day, where everyone gets the opportunity to see if they are ready to advance to the next class level. The atmosphere at graduation day is fun and relaxed and we strongly encourage everyone to have a go – if only to see how much you have improved. There are games and a barbeque lunch (hosted by the club, gold coin donation) and then ribbons and certificates are presented. In December each year we also hold a Christmas Party that includes food, drink and the rewarding of ribbons, trophies and certificates to our successful triallers.
